Successful completion of program will certify an individual to work as a Developmental Disability Aide with listing on Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry.

Where can DSP's work?  What do they do?
The job of a DSP is complex, engaging and critically important to the quality of life for those whom they help support. Direct support professionals include direct care workers, personal assistants, in-home support workers, and paraprofessionals. They are the primary providers of day training, long term care and support for thousands of individuals in Illinois.

DSP's assist individuals with disabilities with their most intimate needs on a daily basis, and must build a close, trusting relationship with those they serve. DSP's provide a broad range of support, including preparation of meals, helping with medications, bathing, dressing, mobility, work, recreational activities, and other general daily affairs.
